Description

Authentic Historical Medieval Viking Hat:

Also called Medieval Kettle Hat Helmet, Chapel-de-Fer Helmet and Chapeau de Fer Helmet.

From the 12th to the 15th centuries, infantry, archers, crossbowmen, town militias and even knights all wore this type of helmet. The wide brim kept you safe from arrows, falling debris and blows from above. This was especially useful in siege warfare.

The Medieval Iron Kettle Hat Helmet – Version II, also known as the Chapel-de-Fer or Chapeau de Fer, is a very accurate copy of one of the most popular helmets in medieval Europe. This helmet was popular with foot soldiers, archers, city guards and militia troops from the 12th to the 15th centuries because it offered a great balance of protection, visibility and comfort.

The wide circular brim is what sets it apart. It is meant to deflect sword blows, spears and falling projectiles while offering better protection against arrows during battles and sieges. The kettle hat, on the other hand, let you see and breathe freely, which made it useful for long hours of fighting and guarding.

Armor Arena’s Version II improves on this classic design by adding clean lines and a sturdy build, while still keeping the proportions of the original. There are 14, 16, 18 and 20 gauge mild steel options for the helmet. For customers who want something that won’t rust and is easy to clean, there is also an 18 gauge stainless steel option. There are two types of finishes available: a dull (satin) finish that looks like a real medieval battlefield and a mirror polish finish that is good for ceremonies, collectors and movie sets.

The helmet has foam padding on the inside for comfort and shock absorption, as well as a leather chin strap with a steel buckle to keep it stable and adjustable. This kettle hat helmet is perfect for LARP, SCA combat, historical reenactment, medieval fairs, cosplay, theater or movie productions. It looks real, works well and has a classic medieval look.

Like all Armor Arena products, this helmet is made to professional standards with high-quality materials. You can be sure that you are getting the best craftsmanship at the lowest price.
