\nLeather gloves with metal finger protection include gauntlets and gloves reinforced with metal plates or chainmail. Metal finger gloves were used for protection in battle and as a symbol of status. Gauntlets were a key part of a soldier's defense in the Middle Ages. They were made of overlapping plates of steel and could be fingered or fingerless.
