Description
14th Century Kettle Hat, Medieval Kettle Helm or Chapel‑de‑Fer:
The Kettle Hat, also called the Kettle Helm or Chapel-de-Fer was one of the most useful and popular helmets worn by foot soldiers in Europe during the 14th century. The wide brim kept rain and sunlight out and protected against blows from above. This made it especially useful for foot soldiers and crossbowmen on long campaigns.
Armor Arena’s faithful reproduction stays true to those historical designs while making them comfortable and reliable for modern reenactors and performers. Our skilled armorers make each helmet by hand and you can choose between 14, 16, 18 or 20 gauge mild steel or 18 gauge stainless steel, which is resistant to rust. Depending on the look they want for their display or historical setting, customers can choose between a Dull (Satin) or Mirror Finish surface.
The inside is completely lined with foam padding and has a strong leather chin strap and steel buckle that keep it securely fastened while you move.
LARP players, SCA fighters, reenactors, historical markets, film and theater productions and collectors of real medieval armor all like the 14th Century Kettle Hat.
Armor Arena is proud to make high-quality, hand-crafted armor at the lowest price possible. They do this by combining authenticity, craftsmanship and value.
